Character Blueprint Design

Final Concept Design

Weapon Concepts

Within any bounty hunter there are weapons, here are some of the idea's which came up when I was designing weapons for my character.

Face Practice

As you know my character has to be a representation of myself, and so I have a render of my face sketches. Top left one is a portrait of me, but I wanted to add a more depth and detail to my character as if he was scared of time from being a bounty hunter.

Time Traveling Device Thumbnails

Along with my character modeling project, my character is based around a brief about them being apart of time traveling bounty hunters and has to be apart of a era. I decided to choose post distant future and here are some sketches of time travel devices.

Colour Practice of some more Thumbnails

Character Sketches

Render of my thumbnails for my character modeling project.

New Project Character Modeling

Hey guys haven't posted in a while, bu I am now working on a new project around Character Modeling.

My Character Modeling project including me creating and designing a game character model, of which is a representation of myself. Research an original idea that is detailed and fits within a criteria set. (E.g a period in time, mine being the future). Utilize as many sources of reference as possible including film, television, comics and real life.

Produce an original Concept Design informed by my research. Show early sketches and development towards my final concept. Based on my design produce blueprints that will be used to create a 3D mesh. Using real life reference for face modeling and textures.

Build a character based on my design, with my research into modeling to support my build. show good use of edge loops throughout the model and the polygon placement should be efficient and well distributed. I can use between 2048 x 2048 files in the TGA image format to create my character textures. I must create Diffuse, Specular, Normal and Alpha maps for my character. Preserve all Photoshop files so that the layers and development can be observed.

Rig and Skin my character ready to be placed using Biped and the skin tool in 3d Studio Max.

Render my character as part of my portfolio using methods learned from previous modules. Renders should be in JPG format and be 1280 x 1024.

I will be posting more of the development of my work, as it progresses.

Final Level Renders

After completing all my modelling and texturing of individual assets, adding lights and animation. I finished my level and wanted to post the final outcome with some screen shots of the level complete, hope you like.

Character Worksheet

With this project I also produce a character worksheet, which shows the development of how I started and finished the design of Hades.

Final Character

With this image I combined all of what I had produced including my thumbnails, colour tryouts and background drawings, which helped me design and create my final character. With this character I wanted to capture the same design of my other sketches, but have the look and feel that my character was based around.

As I have said in older posts, this character is evolved around the Greek god Hades. I chosen to have him in an alternate universe, as a sci-fi bounty-hunter on the run from his two brothers Zues and Poseidon who are pursuing him to his death. With this in mind I started to think of how a sci-fi bounty-hunter would look like, having my research and my sketches for inspirational. With this I captured Hades in a different look and design.

The image of my final character it shows Hades on a wanted poster, I chose a wanted poster as it was a key part of his background with the law and fits how I portrayed Hades to look finally look with this alternate universe.

Character Update

After producing some thumbnails sketches, I started to think about colours and and began to colour some thumbnails that I liked the most. Some where just tryouts to see what colours worked well together and others where practice examples, as I used a tablet to colour them .

Looking at my colour templates I went ahead further by adding more detail, lights, shadows and including a background that would fit the character.

Character Thumbnails

After looking at some images, here are some idea sketches just to see how my character might look.

Using my thumbnails I started to pick parts i liked and create new ideas and adding a little more time and detail into the next drawings as they will help shape my final design.

Character Project

Like I said in my last post I have been given a character project during my level design project. I have chosen Hades god of the underworld. With Hades I wanted to given him a sci-fi look and feel, I started to gather some research.

Just some images I found helpful to start doing some thumbnail sketches.

Work Update

It's been a while since I posted work on my level project, I have also been given another project related to developing and designing a sci-fi character based of myths and legends. I has chosen to recreate the god of the underworld, Hades as a sci-fi bountyhunter.

I will post more on that project. but for now the up date on my level so far. I have been designing and making assets to fit within each room of the level, here are some screen shots.
